Integrate an acquisition operating in Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand and the Philippines into their existing Oracle E-Business Suite in a short time-frame. This was by far the most complex ERP and business process project the company had faced in many years. The business process challenges focused on implementing new Fabrication and Service & Repair Business into their single global instance. The Project was completed in just under 5 months.

United Streetcar was formed in December, 2005, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oregon Iron Works, Inc. (OIW). United Streetcar is the only manufacturer of modern streetcars in the United States. United Streetcar manufactured the first modern Buy America compliant streetcar in the U.S. for the City of Portland, Oregon.

United Streetcar’s anticipated manufacturing needs required an ERP system back-bone for start-up operations that could be built upon as United Streetcar grows.   • Granting User access request process was entirely manual.  The volume of tickets requested increases each year, 2,860 requests in 2008 averaging a turnaround time of 2.5 days, which is a significant burden on Helpdesk and negatively impacts users’ productivity
  • Access not based on a formal set of segregation of duties (SoD) standards
  • No reporting was available to identify those individuals with conflicting duties based on a set of standard SOD conflicts
  • No tracking mechanism existed to audit the transactions performed by users with ‘Super User’ privileges
  • Movement of employees could create legacy access that may no longer be  appropriate or needed for new job function or role
  • Difficult to demonstrate sufficient and consistent control over the granting, reviewing and approving of user access to financial information and transactions
